Bob Schacht, Mother Nature Split SCSCS Duels at Dominion

Thornburg, Virginia (April 29, 2018) – Longtime racer Bob Schacht can now officially declare himself a Super Cup Stock Car Series points-paying race winner.

The North Carolina resident bested his previous track record set during September’s special event held at Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia with a time of 15.872 seconds.  After the six fastest qualifiers redrew for their starting positions for 2018’s season opening Duels at Dominion, the No. 75 Engineered Components / Bob Schacht Motorsports Chevrolet would have to climb from fifth position to find its way to the front.

SCSCS newcomer Allen Purkhiser, making his first appearance in a stock car in approximately six years, showed that he could dust the rust off fairly quickly and jumped out to the early lead at the 4/10-mile facility.  Schacht found his way to the runner-up position fairly efficiently and was knocking on the door as the competitors approached slower traffic.

SCSCS Duels at Dominion Kicks Off 2018 Season Saturday

Statesville, North Carolina (April 24, 2018) – At least seven months of hard work and determination in race shops up and down the eastern portion of the country all will culminate on Saturday, April 28.  The Super Cup Stock Car Series 2018 season will begin at the site of their most recent race, Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia.

15 full-bodied stock cars invaded the 4/10-mile oval for a special event in September 2017.  Heading in with perhaps the most momentum is the driver who took the checkered flag at the end of that 75-lap distance, Bob Schacht.

“I liked it a lot, especially because I won, but it’s got good grip, it’s super wide, and it’s really a nice facility,” the driver of the No. 75 Engineered Components / Bob Schacht Motorsports Chevrolet noted.

Schacht knows that the caliber of competition will be even heavier this time around given that it will set the stage for the championship battle in the 11th season of the SCSCS.  The veteran driver whose home base is Mooresville, North Carolina will be going full bore for the first time in his short tenure with the series.

Competitors Switching Things Up In Preparation for 2018 SCSCS Season

Statesville, North Carolina (March 20, 2018) – They say that sometimes a change can be good.  Many teams getting ready for the 2018 Super Cup Stock Car Series are putting that phrase into motion for various purposes.

Kevin Kromer has been a fixture on the SCSCS circuit since nearly the beginning, but continues pushing toward the objective of upping his game and giving it another go to pursue the ultimate prize, series champion.

The Walnutport, Pennsylvania driver underwent shoulder surgery during the winter months, but will be prepared come the season opening event at Dominion Raceway on Saturday, April 28.  Due to the limited time available over the off-season, Kromer elected to switch to the car his son Kyle piloted over the last few years.  Kyle Kromer will scale back to a limited schedule in 2018 in order to concentrate on his career after recently graduating from Police Academy.

“For some odd reason that car works so good,” Kromer mentioned.  “It’s pretty much race ready, will have a new color, and we’re working on lettering it now.”

Completion of 2018 Super Cup Stock Car Series Schedule Features a Multitude of Variety

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (February 2, 2018) – Hard work behind the scenes and careful consideration has resulted in a Super Cup Stock Car Series 2018 season schedule that is unlike any in the past.

16 races across eight dates at six tracks in five states will contribute toward determining the champion and many other awards during the 11th year of the series, which features 3,300 pound and 600 horsepower full-bodied stock cars.

“2018 is shaping up to be a banner year for our series,” Director of Competition, Joe Schmaling, remarked.  “Once again, our drivers will be showcased in front of a national audience with several new teams expected for this season.”

Drivers will get an earlier start compared to recent years on Saturday, April 28.  Following a popular special event demonstrating the “Racin’ The Way It Used To Be” brand, the SCSCS will make its first appearance for points at the immaculate Dominion Raceway and Entertainment Complex in Thornburg, Virginia.

Guidance from Team Owners a Crucial Piece toward the Puzzle for SCSCS Success

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (November 14, 2017) – In the race-to-race grind during the Super Cup Stock Car Series summer months the focus is mainly placed upon the individual behind the wheel.  While in some cases in the grassroots short track atmosphere that person is also the one paying the bills, there are some other instances in which the potentially forgotten key to making an opportunity possible is the important aspect of the car owner.

One such personality who often works behind-the-scenes without requesting much recognition is Don Gnat.  The current Indiana resident moved from South Dakota at a young age and tagged along to a Figure 8 race at what is now Anderson Speedway.  The experience as a whole caught his interest and years of dabbling in the local short track world in various roles including as a driver eventually led to 2012 with an eventual SCSCS champion.

Schacht and Brougher Add Names to SCSCS Record Book in Inaugural Dominion Raceway Special Event

Thornburg, Virginia (September 24, 2017) – The Super Cup Stock Car Series made their long-awaited first ever stop at the immaculate Dominion Raceway and Entertainment complex and gave fans that came out a show worth talking about.

The inaugural SCSCS 75-lap non-points special event presented by Avatar Instruments saw Bob Schacht as the driver to beat throughout the afternoon, quickest on short practice runs and claiming the Pole Award with a best time of 15.882 seconds.  2017’s Top Performing Rookie recipient Jerod Brougher made the six-car redraw for the first time in his career and ended up leading the 15-car field to green.

Almost immediately, Schacht marched from his fourth starting position toward the front, but not without a fight from outside pole starter Ben Ebeling.  Ebeling, a winner at Lonesome Pine in early August, successfully gained sole possession of the top spot and led for numerous circuits.

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (September 19, 2017) – The champions and award winners may have already been named for the 10th Anniversary season, but numerous Super Cup Stock Car Series drivers and teams still have their 3,300 pound, 600 horsepower machines ready to take on a new challenge.
